Facial masks are used for cleansing, exfoliating, hydrating, or soothing your face and neck. If you have run out of your favorite mask, don't fret and wait another week until you can stock up! You most likely have the ingredients right in your kitchen to make a facial mask to keep you beautiful until you replenish your favorite mask stock at home!
A few 'must dos' before wearing a face mask
. always clean face thoroughly before applying the mask
. mask eyes and mouth area with a protective cream
. do not allow the mask to crack on face, wash it off with 20 minutes with warm boiled water
. apply moisturizer after removing mask
Here are some short masks recipes arranged by skin types:
Face mask for normal skin
- Make a paste of some powdered with milk or lemon juice if you want to fade spots on your skin.
- Blend 1 egg white, 2 tsp vegetable oil and 1 tsp apple juice until smooth.
- Mix 1 egg white, 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal and 1 tsp olive oil until smooth.
- Apply a raw egg yolk and rinse with cold water. The high vitamin A content of egg is very effective in healing blemishes.
- Mix well 2 parts milk,1 part fuller's earth clay, 1 tsp honey and essential oil.
Face mask for oily skin
- Blend 1/2 tsp lemon juice, 1 egg white, 1 tsp honey, 2 strawberries and 2-3 drops eucalyptus oil or jojoba oil (optional).
- Mix well a tsp of baking yeast in a some warm milk.
- Make a paste by mixing some potato flour in tomato puree.
- Rub some Milk of Magnesia, and let dry, then rinse with lukewarm water.
- Mix 1 tbsp lemon juice with 1/4 cup ground oatmeal and 1 tbsp yogurt. Apply on face and leave for 20 minutes, then wash off with warm water.
Face mask for sensitive skin
- 1 cup natural yogurt, 1/2 cup oatmeal. Mix the ingredients together. Apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes. Wash off mask with a warm washcloth .
- This soothing mask is great for chapped, sunburned or irritated skin. Take 1 cup natural yogurt, honey and 1/2 cup oatmeal. Mix the ingredients together and apply on face for 15 minutes.
Face mask for dry skin
- Mix 1/2 avocado (or 2 tsp avocado oil) with 1/2 cup honey.
- Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp warm honey, some vitamin E oil (optional).
- Blend 50g ripe avocado flesh, 25g orange juice, 1tsp honey, 1 tsp molasses and 4-5 drops of some essential oil.
- Mix 1 egg yolk with 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp plain yogurt. Apply on face and leave for 20 minutes.
Face mask for combination skin
- Mix 1 egg white, 1/2 cup cooked instant oatmeal and 1 teaspoon olive oil until smooth.
- Rose Mask: This mask is good for both the oily and dry areas of your skin. Take 5 rose petals and soak in water and then crush them. Add 2 tbsp rosewater, 1 tbsp yogurt and 1 tbsp honey and mix well.
Face mask for ageing or maturing skin
- 1 small banana, 2 tablespoons fresh double cream, 1 tablespoon organic honey, 1 tablespoon potato flour
- Take 2 spoons powdered sugar, 4 tbsp warm water and dissolve. Apply to the face and leave for 10 minutes. Gently massage and wash off.
- Mash 1/4 banana until it is very smooth. Apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Then use cold water to close the pores.
- Simply apply egg white on face covering all the wrinkles and fine lines. Wash off after half an hour.
Face mask for chapped or sunburned skin
- Mix 1 cup plain yogurt and 1/2 cup oatmeal and apply to the skin for 15 minutes.
